How to Obtain a Library Card
There is no charge for a library card (we are the Milton FREE Public Library!)
To obtain a card, patrons must bring in proof of their mailing address. This can be any form of mailed “stuff”.
Patrons do not need to be residents of Milton.
Patrons must present their card when borrowing materials. Please be careful if you choose to take out an item for a friend or relative. You are responsible for any and all items taken out on your card.
Return Policy
No more than 10 items may be borrowed at a time; only 6 DVDs at a time. Sorry, but other people want to see those new movies, too!
All materials have a 2-week borrowing period. Items may be renewed one time.
If a patron has 3 items overdue more than four weeks OR any one item six weeks overdue, s/he will have all library privileges temporarily suspended until all materials are returned, per guidelines approved by the Library Trustees.
If a patron has chronic overdue items, s/he may have his/her library card revoked. The patron may appeal to the library trustees at one of their regularly scheduled meetings.
Accidents can happen. If a borrowed item is damaged, please let us know so we can repair or replace it. This allows other patrons to enjoy the item.
There are no fines for overdue or damaged materials, however the library will gladly take donations of pantry goods for the food pantry, or money to the “guilt dinosaur”.
